We highly recommend applying visa online (Tanzania eVisa – Welcome (immigration.go.tz)) at least 21 days prior to your departure to Tanzania. For those nationalities who are eligible to apply and obtain visa on arrival, they can do so at the entry point – i.e. airport, border crossing or sea port.

General Requirements

Applicants for the entry visa to Tanzania must meet all the necessary requirements. These include the submission of the following:

• Passport with 6 months remaining validity beyond the expected date of departure from Tanzania and 2 blank pages.
• 1 fully accomplished and duly signed visa application form.
• Recently taken, 2 passport-size photographs (4.5cm x 3.5cm).
• Photocopy of return ticket or flight confirmation slip.
• Supporting travel documentation depending on whether it is for a Tourist or Business Visa
• For business purpose: Letter of recommendation from company (in your country) or invitation letter from counterpart in Tanzania.
• Proof of residency (if applying from a country that is not country of origin)
• Non-refundable visa fee (US$ 50 cash and US$ 100 cash for US passport holder)

Essential documents:

Passport (valid for at least 6 months after your return) and photocopy, passport photo, *Visa for Tanzania, Some Cash (US$ or £ or €), Credit card (for emergencies), Travel insurance, Air tickets or e-ticket receipt, yellow fever vaccination certificate.
